[Battlemesh] [OpenWrt-Users] 2.4ghz omni directional antennas: Exterior vs Interior

I've used white 7dB antennas similar to these units for years outdoors,
albeit with the 90degree joint and any exposed fitting wrapped in
electrical tape:

The cheap indoor dipoles are made of plastic that will embrittle over years
of exposure to sunlight, and there is no easy way to prevent that. You
just need to expect the antennas to become useless (or impossible to
unscrew w/o breaking) after several years. Likewise, the antennas made of
black plastic degrade much faster, hence the light color recommend above.

Using light-colored electrical tape would be an added measure against
sunlight-induced degradation.
