yes, these are github https://github.com/battlemesh/battlemesh-packages
i was doing some layer8 experiences with real, smart(phone) peoples and
than f.i. throwing away these usb-wifi-sticks.
We also were including bufferbloat into firmware, Dave did some Tests
and was crying..

But, finally we can pronounce that we now in Leipzig have a
Freifunk-Firmware which is Battlemesh-v6-compatible! And its still
downwards-compatible to even our oldest linksys Nodes!
Its made via stable freifunk meshkit imagebuilder (but with manually
IPv4 settings within that) then with some uci-commands to configure
vlans, batman-adv and fastd.
(Battlemesh) VLAN12 and 14 are now used for clients (with VAP roaming
effect), atm with centralized dhcp-server..
in the next weeks i will update all new nodes to batman-adv-2014 and
fastd-v11.

so lets take some best parts of all these projects! are there some
screenshots? one of our nodes in sublab looks like this:

yes please. updating that in the next weeks and we could do some tests.
some problems with the outdated firmware are written down at github
issue tracking system.
everybody is invited to couple local wifi-testnodes to a battlemesh vpn
cloud.

greetings, ufo

p.s. what about a testbed. where to get some wifi-routers? the tplink
devices we used at battlemesh V6 are still very nice. So we should need
these again, or is there more interesting hardware available?
