Yes, well, the broader conversation is taking place all across the
industries, with different arguments based on the foci of the
participants and who they talk to, and unfortunately, the bar for
getting into some of these conversations sometimes involves pay to
play.

I tried to talk to the "everyone talking past each other" problem at
the last battlemesh:

and personally I try to move between as many groups as possible (ietf,
ieee, open source, government, corporate) to try to understand and
engage with each viewpoint - which is quite tiring. (and at the moment
I'd like to just focus on fq_codel for wifi)

One of the more effective things I do is try to get/fund others to go
to events like these and give talks that express alien viewpoints. Far
too many echo chambers now exist on the Internet.

Recently on the bufferbloat-fcc list we'd started trying to talk about
the progress of LTE-U (and LTE-LAA) and ratholed on insufficient
expertise to be able to understand the technical arguments, while
(most) coming to the conclusions that LTE-U at least, was a game
theory and technological fail, and - but the conversation about
LTE-LAA never got started, and that is the next big issue in the 5ghz
spectrum, IMHO.

in looking over their materials I was struck by their usage of
economic and policy arguments about the size of the industry and how
they viewed wifi's growth potential, and uses -  and how different -
and yet partially aligned  with us - it was, and wanted to get someone
to go, and listen, and talk.

Sounds good. Still, trying to get a "speaker to EE's" to talk about
our issues in widely read publication(s) outside of our echo chamber
would be good.
