What's the status of MT76 regarding 5GHz outdoor use? I would especially 
like to know if there are plans for DFS support.

Good DFS support in hardware and software is an integral part for doing 
FCC and ETSI certification. At least if you consider using a device for 
outdoor networks.

Many year ago my experience with Atheros chips was that equipment 
vendors promised working DFS support (radar-detection). But in practice 
it worked so bad that you had to turn it off if you wanted meaningful 
throughput :)

I expect Mediatek is not experienced in this field of outdoor/enterprise 
products. I really hope I'm wrong and their DFS feature is better 
implemented (in hardware) than the early Atheros stuff.
