we derived the Freifunk API and also Flons API from the hackerspaces
API. The idea is as described at flong.org to have the communities
hosting their metadata themselves.

That's why I think collecting community information on wikipedia is not
the best idea. It's a centralized thing and nobody will care about
maintaining the list. We had our experience with a bunch of lists on our
freifunk wiki :-)

So every community is responible for their own data only.

By the way: FLONS API is not meant as another node database or a network
management database. But we could use it to collect links to different
sources and aggregate data as we do on http://freifunk-karte.de There
you'll find freifunk nodes from all over Germany. The communities just
provide a data source and the map collects it.
