I met one of the Kumu Networks guys a while ago. I think it was at the 
time when they received their first investment. The company itself is a 
Stanford spinoff.

Back then they were working on a very low-level (physical layer) 
technology for TX/RX echo cancellation at a very high quality level. 
Including a little bit of rocket science (patents) of course.

As with any such hardcore technology startup they need quite a while and 
lots of money to bring a product to market. As far as I understood they 
are aiming to have their technology embedded in 5G standard.

In any case it's not a company that produces backhaul or access gear 
like Ubiquiti Networks. If at all, it would be more comparable to a 
semiconductor company.
