Wouldn't it make sense to have *first* a grasp of how the test network should behave with static routes (under the assumption that these are set to the optimum because the testnetwork was built in this way)?
That must be the benchmark against one could compare with in any case.

Please do not forget to measure layer 2 and 1 problems first! If there is a strong fluctuation in SNR over the course of the day then the measurements are essentially non comparable.
