[Battlemesh] freifunk - Application for GSoC 2026

Hello everyone,

Freifunk would like to apply again this year as a mentoring and umbrella 
organization for **Google Summer of Code 2026**. Last year, we saw how 
much fresh energy, new perspectives, and concrete contributions GSoC 
brought to our projects—we would like to make that possible again.

To do this, we need your help:
Do you have any ideas on how Freifunk projects could be advanced, or is 
there a topic that has been on your mind for a while? Then please enter

What are we looking for?

* Project ideas related to Freifunk and related open source topics
* Tasks that can be completed in about 12 weeks
* A rough technical direction and a clearly defined goal
* Unfinished ideas are also welcome – we can work on the details together

Why participate?

GSoC is a great opportunity to get new people excited about Freifunk and 
at the same time advance your own projects in a targeted manner. 
Mentoring does not mean “doing everything alone” – it can also be done 
in a team and thrives on exchange.
