Greetings, ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Elyas Ben Hadj Yahia. I am currently pursuing my 3rd year in
computer engineering in Bordeaux, France. While discussing with one of my
professors, he recommended me to check out GSoC if I had some spare time
this summer. And I sure do, so here I am!
I couldn't help but stumble upon your page while scrolling through the
organisations list. I have always been interested in music (I'm an avid
guitartist), and while at it, I have always wanted contribute to a music
project.
I haven't participated in an open-source project previously, but I have
accomplished a number of projects within the university's context. I am
quite experienced with Java and C developement, and a bit less with Python,
VB.NET, SQL, and the magnificent Lisp.
So my questions are:
- I am very enthusiastic about the Collaborative Music Composition
project. I wanted to obtain some more details about these projects: I have
noticed that there are several required skills revolving around web
development. Although I have never developed a web application before, I am
ready to do whatever it takes to get up to speed, in order to contribute to
this project. Do you think it would be tough for me to adapt to web
programming, knowing that I have solid experience in C and Java, but no
experience in web development whatsoever?
- What is the current status of this project? Will we be able to add
further extensions when the core tasks are finished?
- I'm wondering if you already a planned roadmap, or if we have the
freedom to be creative about some functionalities to add to the project?
- I couldn't find your IRC channel. Is there any alternative address?
On a final note, I would like to tell you that I am really, really
motivated to work with you on this project.
Best regards,
Elyas BHY.
